HOUSTON – July 16, 2019 – The Chairwoman of Houston’s Entertainment Industry Task Force, Centrell Reed, invites everyone who wants to collaborate and make an impact to join the task force initiative hosted by CReed Global Media that aims to expand the entertainment industry in Houston.

As the initiative recognized and supported by mayor Sylvester Turner, the task force centralizes efforts, organizes projects, and provides a collaborative environment for the entertainment community to connect and grow freely. Reed and the HEITF committee aim to provide members an all hands-on deck approach to entertainment expansion and an information repository for the industry in Houston.

Turner has devoted himself to the growth of the entertainment industry in Houston since his election in 2015. However, in the four years that followed, the state budget for the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program was reduced from $95 million to $22 million making it too small to attract the long-term interest of many big-budget projects.

Reed’s fresh approach to industry growth follows the decision made in the Texas state legislature to provide a $50 million budget for the state program over the 2019-2020 biennium.

With a portion of the new budget approved by the state, Reed’s resourcefulness earned his support for the task force initiative.

“By supporting the Houston Entertainment Industry Task Force’s efforts to assist in broadening our growth in motion pictures, television, digital media and gaming sectors, we recognize a team formulating important initiatives and increasing infrastructure capabilities,” Turner said.

In the same spirit of dedication to industry expansion, HEITF is committed to providing the financial flexibility and innovative efforts that will make Houston a new destination for entertainment.

“The task force is a much-needed support system that will usher in new ideas for the growth of the entertainment industry in the greater Houston area,” Reed said. “I’m excited to lead this effort and this amazing group of talented individuals. We have so many initiatives coming to share with Houston and beyond!”

The first Saturday of each month, HEITF committees and members meet at CGM Studios in the Galleria area to address new and ongoing projects concerning the greater Houston area.

Task force meeting attendees include people like the director of Houston Television’s Ted Irving, producer Charnele Brown, director Greg Carter, the founder of The Black Film Festival J.O. Malone, Comicpalooza founder John Simon, The Art Institute’s Trish Rigdon, and the collaborative community welcomes more.
